Todd Garcia, Founder and Director of Laboratories of Anatomical Enlightenment now offers dissection events at the University of Basel, Switzerland where Andreas Vesalius created some of his best known works which include the well known articulated skeleton from his dissection event in 1543 on display.
The environment in the dissection lab at the University of Basel has been increasing daily since the year 1460 with contributions made by many well known anatomist. Now Todd Garcia will begin making his contribution to the collective insightful thinking of the human body through the art of dissection.
A whole body dissection will be performed by Todd Garcia over a 4 day period from July 21 - 24, 2026, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. daily.
Todd will begin the dissection with the anterior neck. From the anterior neck he will proceed with the upper extremity muscles, brachial plexus, face, and temporal mandibular joint. Next: The brain to show the falx cerebri, tentorium cerebelli, nose, and sinuses. Next: Abdominal muscles, digestive system, psoas muscles, quadratus lumborum, respiratory diaphragm, intercostal muscles, heart, and lungs. Next: Lower extremity muscles (anterior view), Quadricep muscles, iliotibial band, knee, and ankle joints. Next: Back muscles, suboccipital muscles. Next: Lower extremity muscles (posterior view), Gluteal muscles, lateral rotators of the hip, sciatic nerve, and foot. Fascia will be discussed/presented “every bit of the way”. This event is open to all anatomically related professionals and students alike. Everyone will be absolutely
welcome to speak/lecture/teach as much or as little as they are comfortable with. Andreas Vesalius made a contribution of an articulated skeleton from his famous event mentioned in this event description. Todd Garcia will also finish this event by creating an articulate skeleton as an end result of his full body dissection event.
Attendees will be invited to palpate structures, initiate, and participate in conversations related to structures being dissected.
Cost/fee: Each 8 hour day $500 USD. Attendees can attend as many as 4 day’s or as little as one day. Attendees must be a minimum of 18 years of age and involved in the study or practice of human anatomy within a recognized educational and or professional institution.
